World of Warcraft Name Generator

Warcraft's races each speak a recognisable naming dialect — orc honour-names, gnomish tinker-surnames, and the guttural warband registers in between. These generators produce names that fit that world's tone: heroic, slightly larger than life, and readable at a glance in a guild roster. Handy for new characters, guild NPC rosters, or fan fiction that wants to sound native.

How the registers differ

Orc: Orcish names are guttural and percussive — back-of-the-throat consonants (g, k, kh, z, gh) with clipped vowels. They're designed to sound harsh spoken aloud.

Gnome: Gnome names are playful and machine-adjacent — clattering consonant clusters (zz, ck, gl, sp) that sound like small moving parts. The register is deliberately comic: gnomes in most settings are tinkers and illusionists, and their names carry that whirring, slightly absurd energy..

Goblin: Goblin names are short, spiky and faintly disgusting — clipped syllables built on k, z, g and b, usually welded to a crude descriptor. They're insults as often as names, and goblins swap them freely when one sticks better.

Choosing between these World of Warcraft generators

If you already know the race, go straight to its generator — each one documents that tradition's phonetics, history and table usage beneath the tool. If you're still deciding, read the register notes above and pick by sound: the name you'll enjoy saying every session matters more than the lore fit, because you will say it several hundred times before the character retires.

Every generator here works the same way. Tap a name to copy it, star the ones worth keeping — they stay in your browser between sessions, which makes a useful name bank for the next time you need an NPC on no notice — and use the count selector when you want a longer list to choose from. Nothing is stored on our servers and nothing needs an account.

Naming a whole World of Warcraft cast

One name is easy; a consistent cast is the harder problem. The trick used by most worldbuilders is to fix a sound palette per culture and stay inside it: if one faction's names lean on soft l and r sounds, its rival's should not. Generate in bulk, shortlist the names that share a family resemblance, and keep the rejects — today's discarded name is next month's innkeeper. The worldbuilder's method guide covers this in full.
