How changeling names work
Changelings wear names the way they wear faces — lightly, and in numbers. Their true names are short, soft and deliberately unremarkable: one or two syllables that slip through memory. Most keep a private name for themselves and a wardrobe of disposable ones for everyone else.
Anatomy of a changeling name
This generator assembles names the way the tradition does. Typical openings include Ash, Bin, Cas, Dor, Fei, Gray, Hazel, Jin; names run 2 syllables and resolve on endings such as -en, -a, -ien, -iel, -wyn, -ey. The tradition doesn't gender-code its names — any ending suits any character.

Where changeling names come from
Changelings arrived as a playable race through Eberron, and their naming follows their nature: they wear identities the way others wear clothes. The published lore describes changelings as having a true name kept private, plus a wardrobe of personas — each with its own name, voice and history — used in public. Their true names are short and soft, and deliberately unremarkable.
How to build a good one
Keep true names to one or two soft syllables: Ash, Fel, Vey, Sel. Persona names can be anything — that's the point — so the craft lies in the contrast: a changeling's true name should sound quieter and simpler than every persona they wear.
At the table
Give a changeling NPC three names across a campaign and let players slowly work out which one is real. And when a changeling player reveals their true name to the party, treat it as a trust event — the most intimate thing a changeling can share.
